ive just bought a 2001 e46 compact and neither of the key fobs work the central locking remotely,

therefore not having a "working one" if i change the battery in either fob i wouldnt be able to re-program it would or would I ???

is there anyway around this without letting bmw take any more of my money??

    cheers
    mike

you cant change the batteries per se, they recharge off the ignition so theoretically never need changing. maybe they need re-programming?

ive been driving around with the "spare" key hoping it would just charge itself up and nothing, will try the re-programming, anything to avoid paying through the nose for such a simple job!

    cheers for the replies!
