    Hi,
I have e39 2002 530d Touring with standard wiring loom for radio .Currently have a Business Tape Radio 40 pin flat connector.

I thought I'd be clever and upgrade to a Business CD unit but now cannot get it working..
I can connect the 40pin connector to the CD top unit, but the lower mid requires a 10 pin connector I do not have...
    with wires I dont have..:-
White with Black stripe and yellow rings
    Red with Black stripe
    Violet with red stripe
    violet with brown stripe
    brown with black stripe.

Can I wire these in from somewhere? do I need a CD wiring Loom (please dont say that..it'll cost more than the cd...)

    Any help wopuld be appreciated..
    Rich

    Hi All,

got details from an old post and contacted a really helpful source from it.(Tyrone) who sent me the BMW PDF on fitting it..even my local dealer didnt know that I needed an adapter...

    (p/n 65 12 9 405 409)

Apparently I need the adapter cable to do retrofit - my car doesnt have MID as I am all in one business...so this i san extra MID cable..

link to article - just in case anyone else needs it.(if its allowed)

HI all just to add to this,

Heres some extra info on the upgrade.
A2 A3 and A4 connect to the black junction box behind the glovebox (there is a white plastic holder that contains the ecm..)
Just find the corresponding wires in it and plug the same ones into it.

As fdor A5 and A6 for UK models it says plug into pin 88 and 50, so as the fuses are 2 slots this really means A5 goes into fuse slot 44 (for the 88) and A6 goes into fuse slot 25(for the 50).
My slot 25 was already used so I cjoined onto this wire.

All is working fine now so if you are looking to upgrade to a MID from IRIS buy the lead, follow the instructins and thats it.
It took me about an hour to do in al...
my local BMW agent were going to charge approx £140 to do the same..

    Hi There,

aAs you have done it already I thing you are the best guy to ask my problem.

I have non DSP with IRIS radio/Tape combo unit and upgrading to MID with business CD Player.

I am facing a strange problem. I have ordered the wiring harness and MID is on the way as well. for mean time as I have business CD53 player I just plughed it in as it has same flat pins which I have in my IRIS and what I notice is every time I turn my car on the CD player just work for 10-20 sec and then no sound at all. CD player accept and eject the CDs fine but after 10 sec of start the car no sound and when I turn off and on my car again it does the same thing.

Any help on this my friend. Is this the problem in CD player if it is then I have to return it back to the guy I bought it from.
