    Hi Guys

Ive just bought a BMW 530 se, sexy car with a Screen in the console with GPS, TV etc.... but the backlight has just broken on it which make it impossible to use in the dark with out a torch and can only see a little bit of it during the day. I noticed that the screen got quite hot before this happened.

BMW dealers told me it would cost 1500 GBP to replace which I dont want to pay, has anyone here had the same problem and been able to fix without replacing?

    Hi,

I have not had this problem but did a little research. However I think you may have already done the same as I came across you elsewhere.

Just in case you did not get all the information this is what I can see is suggested.

If the battery has a problem or is nearing the end of it's life it seems there is often different problems which include backlight issues with the sat nav screen. Whilst I doubt this is the problem it might be worth checking the battery out.

The biggest suggestion is to take the sat nav out and swap it with another. Perhaps someone on here has taken their screen out and is happy to try this with you?

Failing that you could always got to a scrappy and ask to try one out to see if it fixes the problem. After all I think you will find that is all you are being offered at BMW, but a new one.

    Hope that helps.

    Regards

    Chris
