My 2002 530i started draining its battery.

I then noticed that when it was very cold, I could see two demisted circles, near the dash towards the centre of the windscreen. Others reporting similar symptoms concluded that it must be the hedgehog.

So, I replaced my hedgehog on the 19th of last month (bought the unit from a BMW dealer).

this morning, I was greeted with this.

What is going on? Is my 'new' hedgehog faulty? or something else.

Sort of. Before the change, i had to charge the battery virtually every three days. After the change (19th of Jan), it was fine till the 4th of Feb (11.5v). None since. It only runs 5 miles in the morning and a similar run in the evening. Heaters, lights, vipers on. Hardly any time for a proper charge.

Could be a faulty FSU if a drain shows or I wonder if it is just heat from the matrix rising up.

So, you think the FSU that I replaced three weeks ago is faulty?

I wonder if anyone else has noticed these two circles in cars without a draining battery problem.
