    Hi,

Does anyone have any info on the above fault? Driving in heavy rain with wet roads yesterday and today the car which is automatic transmission won't come out of neutral. The roadside assistance have run diagnostics on both transmission and engine and both have the error code p1887 which relates to the traction control. Not able to speak to an engineer due to UK bank holiday so just looking for more info on the problem and fixing it. Thanks!

You need to get the BMW fault codes read for the Transmission, as Pxxxx codes are not as thorough as BMW specific fault codes, but I can tell you that it is a Auto box problem, to do with the Torque converter, I would take the car to a autobox specialists as BMW will most likely just tell you that you need a new box.

It may be a solenoid problem or pressure problem.

Thanks for the info that's really helpful. I should add that when unlocking the car using the keyfob the car doesn't automatically set up and as a result can't change gear rather than it being stuck in neutral as i'd suggested previously.
