Hi there, the bulb warning light came on the dash this morning and sure enough the passenger side brake light had stopped working, I took out the bulb which was burnt out and replaced it with a new one, now the entire light cluster on that side has stopped working, I tried it with and without the new bulb and even with the old one, still nothing, the indicator, tail lamp and brake light won't come on, the bulbs are all ok and I checked the fuses which are fine too, I've pressed the connectors together and it still won't work

    thanks in advance

    Steve

This is a common fault from what I've read. One of the more clued up members will be along to tell you the exact details, but it's something to do with the wiring not being fat enough to handle the load when all the lights are on together and it burns out, meaning you end up with a dead cluster. Don't worry about it, I think it's a fairly easy fix, you just need to solder in some fatter wire or something and that sorts it and stops it from happening again. There's probably a "how to" guide for it somewhere on this site. Someone will know

As Rob says it could simply be the common rear light failure, see ..http://www.bimmerforums.co.uk/forum/...or-fix-t49882/

Thanks for the help, just thought it was a bit strange as it only happened when I changed the bulb, it was working fine before the bulb came out?

Just visually check all the bulb connections and the electrical plug Steve, you may need to clean up the bulb holders but if the wires are damaged and beyond repair those nice chaps at BMW do sell a repair kit

Full BMW repair kit instructions here in Ronnie's post..........
