    Need a little help -

2001 E46 330d (184bhp) auto - cut out at junction and won't restart. Recovered home and plugged in to diagnostics with the following faults -

256 - Air Mass Meter - Signal Open Circuit or Short Circuit to B-

4704 - Pre-Supply Pressure Monitoring - Pre Supply Pressure Below Min for Engine Start

13589 - Air Condition Output - Open Circuit or Short Circuit to B-

6690 - Flap - Open Circuit or Short Circuit to B-

6660 - Coolant Temperature Heater - Open Circuit or Short Circuit to B-

7728 - Charge-Air Pressure Control or Charge Air Pressure Actuator - Control Circuit or Short Circuit to Positive B-

13573 - Glow Device - Control Circuit or Short Circuit to Positive B-

1024 - Exhaust Gas Recirculation or Exhaust Gas Recirculation Actuator - Control Circuit or Short Circuit to Positive B-

4501 - Rail Pressure Regulating Valve - Open Circuit or Short Circuit to B-

4688 - Relay Pre-Supply Pump - Open Circuit or Short Circuit to B-

    And that's all.

Have removed covers & intake manifold, all vacuum lines intact, everything plugged in. Faults do not clear.

    Help! Please?

EDIT: UPDATE - Have found a 30A fuse under the bonnet blown. Replaced, switched on ignition, blown again immediately. Fuse location not numbered, which really doesn't help!!

With so many faults occurring I'd think theres a power issue.

Either a dead/dying battery or alternator or dodgy connection somewhere.

Have you checked battery voltage? With a tester or via the OBC.

That is my guess, bit of a stab in the dark though

Battery starting to get a little weak with the constant "try this" and "try that" at the roadside before recovery, but still reading 11.5v on OBC now. Engine had been running for 10 mins or so before cutting out.

Currently going through fuses and relays looking for fault, as would agree would appear to be something common to all sensors, hence removing intake manifold to look for damaged wiring (none found).

So far have swapped around relays behind the glove box (what a pig to get to!!), no luck. Tried all fuses, all OK. Checked under bonnet fuses, 30A fuse blown... ... ... sent a mate on a mission to try local petrol stations for replacement fuses. Question is, why has the fuse blown?? Will try a new one first and see.

Ah good to see you've found something

Hopefully a new one is all that's needed.

    Bugger!

Looking for a short somewhere then biggest power users are the glowplugs and coolant heater. (but the heater won't come on with the engine off)
So as a trial disconnect the glowplugs or there control module.?

Job for the morning then - getting quite quick at removing the intake manifold now!!

Is the control module the module under the glow plugs, which also has a lot of the other sensors (which are reporting faults) and a vacuum line leading to it? If not, what IS that unit Think a photo might be being taken in the morning!
