    Hi all.

AFAIK my wipers are working as they should be in auto mode, except that they are rather 'lazy'! (even with the dial in the stalk all the way up), in other words they don't wipe quick enough or often enough. The screen is well covered in rain before it sweeps.

Is their any hardware mod about that can increase their sensitivity beyond standard?

Or do you guys think I may have a problem with the sensor? (based on ones you've seen working in E46s).
(I'll double check the sensor fitting but I don't recall seeing any problems there last time I looked).

Btw, is it possible to set 'normal' intermittent wipe on a car with auto wipers?

    TIA

You may need to talk to the dealer for re-calibration and yes, they can be programmed to the normal intermittent wipe by the dealer on request

Besides I'm a mechanic at an independant garage.
Maybe our KTS diagnostics can access that? thanks for giving me the idea .

Btw, how the hell do I subscribe to threads in this forum??

I dont think KTs will do it mate, at a guess you'll need TIS or autologic. It isnt expensive at a main dealer to be fair.

Turns out you're right, our KTS 500 didn't have any options listed to alter the autowipe sensitivity. I found a stack of faults though!! :( , 1 fault was 'faulty wiper motor'! Even though it works fine.
I cleared those faults (& the load under engine control!), & they didn't come back after ~80miles/1 day, I will have to monitor that......

Back to the wipers, the rain sensor fitting is fine.
I seem to remember that a friends brother works at a BMW dealer as a tech, I wonder if he can help .

    (Wot no sad smilie!??)

Well I asked my mate at BMW, & he asked another tech there as well, apparently you can't re-calibrate it but you can reset them just by disconnecting the battery.

As it turns out I 'fixed' it by accident! lol, I replaced the drivers wiper as it was a bit smeary & lo & behold the auto wipers mostly work properly now!

(btw long delay in update as my car was off the road Jan-Feb whilst my broken ankle healed!)

So you are saying you can't set the sensitivity of the rain sensor? Oh well, will have to bin my DIS manual then ...

BMW use DIS/GT1 for diagnostic and coding.
