The steering angle sensor on their 3 series E46?

I know that once its on it needs programming to the car, but I have read on other forums that the dealers can change this in less than an hour.

The only way I can see doing this is by removing the steering column. is there a better way?

The steering angle sensor is number 16 here, http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...43&hg=32&fg=30

Personally I would take the car to a BMW specialists as it will be cheaper for them to do and they should have no problems coding/calibrating it for you.
