    Guys,

Have just purchased a 2001 330ci with 80k miles on the clock.

While driving over back to home, the cluster just switched off, after some fidling with the fuses i switched on again, not sure if this was the problem since all fuses seems seated correctly.

Now in the garage i noted that onboard computer, reverse light, parking sensors and the right wing mirror do not work. I checked fuses for the above but they all seem fine.

Any idea if this might be a related big problem, or alot of tiny problems?
Traction Control.... And where is the fun in that??

Could be a couple of things ie a bad earth or a short somewhere-some likely suspects are the wiring loom that goes into the bootlid-common problem on older cars-pull back the sheath and see if there are any broken wires in the loom another one is the grounding point which in my car was under the passenger seat-this had become corroded so no longer worked as it should.Easily fixed though..hope this helps on your way to finding your problem

If I had just bought a car like that and found that when I got home id turn round and go back to the seller and ask them to sort it. Assuming you bought it from a dealer!
    Things to do:

Buy a petrol fuelled BMW again

problem is I px this with my 318 and it was not a dealer.

I'll have a look regarding the earthing since it seems like the most probable, since it would be able to cause sparce problems as mine.

-40 is a common failure you need to get yourself a new outside temp control can get on e-bay for about £15 they are located under the car behind the wheel push fit i'm sure there is a thread on hear giving full instructions on how to fit
3rd BM i've owned and the best by far

Noted, will actually go through all fuses to confirm they are all fine this weekend, since way to many electricals seem to be knackered.

If il manage to get to the grounding ill check if this is conducting properly or not. (thinking about this again... wouldnt all the electricals be giving problems if this was a grounding problem?)

Regarding the reverse light, i noticed tonight this is working, im now unsure if i totaly missed it earlier or it started working correctly after another fuse fidling session.

Re the temp sensor, i think i better get the rest working prior to buying any sensors.

    I would suggest the following:
check your battery. Hot climates can quickly ruin a battery.

Next check the ignition switch. The electrical part fails will all sorts of dash related faults.
