Hi there guys, sorry to make my first post a question, but im somewhat baffled here lol.

Ive read various topics about people suffering with problems with washers and wipers. Ive also noticed that these problems have been remedied by replacing a certain wiper relay, however my car for some reason has lost the washer jets AND the intermittent function. The normal wiper speeds havent been affected at all...

Are the two systems related to this relay? or am i looking at 2 separate faults here?

    thanks for any help

They are not both related to the relay. With other functions ok then it's probably not a fuse, but you could check fuse F52 (30A) anyway.
Haven't come across this combination before. The relay is involved for the intermittent, but as the other functions are working then it may be wiper switch related (the potentiometer for adjusting the intermittent speed maybe).
You could unplug the washer motor and apply 12v straight to it to check that the pump is working.
The other possibility is a fault in the General module which controls the wiper functions. It's all just guesswork at this stage. You should be able to get the fault codes read by a good BMW independant who has the diagnostics to pull the codes from the module.

    Just an update -

Put 12V across the pump and no sound no nothing, so i suspect a pump is in order. Am i best going OEM or is a cheapo £10 job off ebay suitable?

The hunt to fix the intermittent wipers goes on!

Is the potentiometer actually located in the stalk itself?
