Use a multimeter and test the voltage at the battery with the engine running, it should be around 14 volts, if it's around 12 volts then check the voltage at the main thick power lead on the rear of the alternator, if it's still around 12 volts then your alternator is toast.

if you can get the engine running, use a multimeter and put one side on the negative terminal and one side on the positive terminal and read the voltage if the alternator is charging it should read roughly 14volts,
If its not charging it will probably be less than 12 volts.
Do this test first and go from there.

Actually a good battery with the engine off should read well about 12v (typically about 12.6 or so). If it's at 12 or lower then your batteries flat.

Generally a fully charged battery will show 12.8 volts. But it's not massively important here as it's the charging rate you need to be looking at.

Expect 13.6 - 14.7 volts from the alternator when the engine is running.

Just check the battery and alternator engine running was 11.8, then when all dash lights came on it dropped to 6.9 then car stooled??
Would this mean alternator is dead??

That would point to your alternator not doing a thing
