    Hi,
My rear waiper and screen wash pump is always on when the ignition is on. What should I look for first to fix this problem?

    Thanks in anticipation

The wash pump is activated by the control unit for the rear window wiper.

So you need to check for water ingress/damage in the tailgate first.

Check circuit diagrams for other components sharing the same circuit, it could be that the wiper motor/washer pump is picking up an earth (ground) from one these, i.e. following the path of least resistance. A simple test to perform is, with the ignition off, pull the fuses for each component sharing the same circuit then, one fuse at a time, refit them and check wiper/washer operation each time, until you have located any possible culprit. Check the grounding points for those particular circuits. Check also that the contacts in the switch or relay aren't arcing out.
