    Update on this....

    Stopped raining so had another look under car for the sensor. As stated ive 2 wires hanging down, stripped at the ends, Having looked again I now know why ive had trouble locating the sensor...IT'S NOT THERE !!!!! the plastic panel which houses the sensor has been broken off, taking the sensor with it... guess the previous owner got the car grounded on something & broke it off. Going to have to get a replacement or try local breakers for one...

    Managed to buy a replacement sensor on Ebay £10.
    connected it to my loose wiring and 'Hey Presto' it works!!!!!
    Display now showing a healthy temperature display..
