    Hey guys,

I'm hoping someone on here has had this same problem and found the solution to it.

Basically everytime I turn my engine off I get a buzzing sound that seems to be coming from around the heater controls/headunit area. It only seems to happen when I turn the engine off, and it'll last for around 15/20 minutes roughly.

I dont have any issues with the heating in the car, all functions and settings appear to operate as they should but as far as I can tell my air conditioning is needing re-gassed.

    It's driving me nuts.

    Cheers.

I have exactly the same problem, only mine lasts 5 secs not mins. My air-con also need regassing. I know its not the clock buzzer b'coz that goes off every hr. & has a different tone.
    Anyone know what this is???

If the E46 is anything like the E36, then it's the little fan inside the climate control fascia.

They use a thermistor to work out the cabin temperature, and during normal operation, the fan is used to draw air across the thermistor inside the unit to work out cabin temperatures.

And in normal operation they get hot, once the ignition is turned off, the fan is left running to cool the thermistor off. Nothing to worry about - Completely normal !

One way to quieten it down abit, is to remove the fan, clean it and the ducting up, then apply some grease to the fan !
