i fitted an alpine headunit, a sub and an amp today and since my remote central locking has started playing up and now wont work at all!?!?

any idea what the problem is?? could i have knocked a wire out behind the headunit trying to pack all the wires in there??

what could the problem be and how can i fix it??

only other thing to note is ive got the door cards off could that make any difference to the locking functions??

    please help?!

my spare key has never worked for the remote central locking. and the key im using is 6 weeks old bought new from bmw.

well its weird because 1st time i went to unlock with the key it set the alarm off and didnt unlock the passenger door.

although ive just got home and locked/unlocked then locked again with the key and the central lockings working just not remotely??!?

wheres the remote sensor/receiver in the car?? could that have been knocked about when squashing the headunit/cabling into the dash??

also could having the door cards off affect it?? ive had to take of the electric mirrors switches aswell so is that an issue??

or could the sub/amp be interfering??

i dont think having the door cards off etc will make much driference!
the remote key charges while your driving the car via the ignition barrel (so no need for batterys),it is possible you may have a duff key !
or try reprograming (search threds on here and it will tell you how

    thanks for that mate,

already tried reprogramming, didnt do anything,

just seems too much of a co-incidence its only started playing up since ive fitted new headunit etc.

will have to see if it fixes itself if not i'll be heading for bmw next monday when im off work.

    fuses for what??

does anyone know where the receiver for the remote central locking is?? if its not behind the dash where the headunit/sub/amp wiring is then its got to be an unlucky co-incidence!

I have got a similar problem with my z3. The RCL was working fine, then it started to play up, not always doing the job unless button pushed a lot, then it stopped. This happened over a few days. I changed battery and nothing. Im boggled as to why, and currently trying to find out how to fix it. Just to add to the problems my hood has stopped working, I have been on the hunt for a new switch but again no such luck.

I think the reviever is in the red bubble thing under the mirror.. you can turn it to make the mirror anti glare? it flashes when the car is locked so i assume its there??
