    Hello

I need some advice as to what are the possible problem(s) with my parking sensor. It has not worked since I bought the car a month ago. It was missed by the Autoco Inspection check.

Any advice would be appreciated since this is my first BMW.

    Thanks.

Are you saying that you don't get any beeps when reversing close to an object?

If when you get in the car and select reverse the PDC system beeps a constant tone for a while and then doesn't work then you have a PDC sensor knackered.

Turn the ignition on and select reverse, then put your ear close to each individual sensor, the one that doesn't click is the one that is knackered.

There's no beep ... total silence when reverse is selected.

Get the codes read on the car...it will tell you if your PDC module is faulty. Also, try what Ronnie says about listening for the clicking sounds. If they do click, then your gong has been disabled. Another thing you might want to note is that the PDC may have been disabled by coding.

Thanks Neal and Ronnie ... I will check the sensors for the clicking sound as recommended and have the codes read.

Neal I have checked the sensors as advised and they are all giving out a rapid clicking sound. Does this mean that the gong is disabled? what are the gongs and how can I enable this gong.

    Thanks

If all the sensors are clicking quickly then they are working, so either the gong has been turned off(needs diagnostic equipment to enable again) or the gong is knackered.

Gong shown here, number 3 http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...03&hg=66&fg=05

Hi, i have the same problem with my reversing sensors. When putting the car into reverse, there is no audible sound, but all sensors are clicking quickly. Where is the PDC located, as i cannot find it (on an E46 Touring), and is there a way to reset it? Also where can i locate the gong, to replace it if necessary?
