    Your car was built in September 2000. Gives us a good cut off point from when the OBD2 came in as standard. Thanks again Andy

    Cool. How did you check that? I've tried a couple of online VIN decoders but they don't accept mine as valid!

    I have a e46 318ci its a w reg year 2000 with the m43 engine. i was just wondering if anyone could tell me wat obd system the car has as it is pre 2001 but it has the rectangle plug underneath the steering wheel by the pedals if anyone could let me know that would be great thanks

    Im not too sure which adapter i need either. Mine is a 2000 e46 and it was built in October so am i right in saying itll need the 16 pin rectangular interface?

    What are you trying to achieve? My car was built September 2000 and I managed to reset my oil service indicator using the dashboard method...

    Check in the engine bay to see if you have the 20 pin connector next to the brake fluid reservoir.

    01 bmw 330d se touring
    03 merc 180 coupe (wifes)
