    Hi there,

A few weeks ago my reversing sensors started playing up and beeping intermittently in a way unrelated to the proximity of the rear of the car to objects.

I then washed the sensors and they worked fine for a while.

Now, when I first put the car into reverse the reverse tone sounds constantly as though the car is about to hit something. If I then take the car out of reverse, and put it back into reverse there is no tone. The reverse sensor tone is then inactive until the ignition is turned off. Once the ignition is turned on again, putting the car into reverse makes the reverse tone constant.....and again putting the car out and back into reverse leaves no tone.

In both cases the normal distance indicating function of the beeping is absent.

Has anyone experienced anything like this before or does anyone have any ideas what might be going on?

    Thanks,
    Andy

Apparently they should click...so in your case you have found the problem. In my case I have no idea...

Mine is doing the exact same. Sometimes they work fine but more often than not its the same problem as you have stated. So if you figure it out I would be grateful to know what the problem is.

Has anybody come up with the answer for this - other than taking the car to the stealers?...

I have looked but there's been no suggestion that the problem is down to dirty sensors...
