    Hi all,

    My 2000(x) 330d Touring

I have just brought the car, for a very good price knowing there was a few issues,

1)parking sensors come on make the beep noise then that stops after a few seconds then nothing?

2)The central locking is only working intermitently on the key for all doors the the rear glass hatch is opening everytime on one key and one key is totally dead opening nothing,(i know from previous experiences with my e36 that once the key goes you have to have a new one from BMW programmed to the transponder unit)

When sitting in the car and pressing the lock button it locks the drivers door that I have just opened but then wasnt opening the doors back up?

    3) Is there anything else that others feel i should be looking out for/doing for piece of mind?

    Cheers Andy

For a start, you should have the car scanned for fault codes and then post them up here

Any competent garage will carry diagnostic equipment. Ask if they have GT1, DIS, Modic equipment, as these the proper BMW diag machines.

    Hi andy_H330d

Sorry to hear of your troubles, ditto what NealP said about getting your codes read.

The central locking issue sounds very similar to a problem I have just recently had.

Does the keyfob lock the car 100% of the time?

Can you unlock the car using the keyfob sometimes, but it's worse in hot/warm weather?

If the car is locked and you have to physically unlock the drivers door with the key you still cannot unlock any other door either manually from inside or remotely?

If these symptoms sound very similar to yours have a look at THIS thread, it can be fixed, but as everything it costs money.

The remote key that doesn't work may just need recoding I'd try reading THIS.It's for a E39 but the principle is the same for the E46.

    Good luck

If no codes are present then the live data should be looked at, the sensor that isn't measuring accurately is the culprit.

    Hi all,

    first post for me.

Just a thought on the rear parking sensors. Do you have a towbar? I have one on my recently bought 2005 320D Sport Touring and it caused the sensors to work intermittantly. My towbar's detachable and when I took it off the problem disappeared.

    Hope this helps
