Well, it would appear as though i've made a complete **** of installing my new Eagle Eye Tail Lights.

I've only been able to install the offside light at the moment, however, i've noticed, for some reason, the small boot lights aren't working. The tail light itself appears to be fine so i'm not sure what i've done to the boot lights for them to not work. I'm also getting the bulb light on the dashboard for this reason.

I didn't realise how long it would take to install the boot lights. Those poppers on the carpet didn't want to come out at all. I had to pull them out with pliers in the end which has damaged a couple of them although they're easily replaceable.

Has anyone else had problems with their boot lights after installing after market LED tail lights?

Further to the above, it turns out the warning light on the dashboard is just a 'headlight on' light. For some reason this has never shown up on my dashboard before until i installed one of the tail lights this afternoon.....weird.

Eagle Eye lights come with resistor packs so don't need any more leads or coding the LCM. Have you tried the old boot lights OP?

To be honest, i've got a feeling i haven't attached the bulb holder correctly. It seemed really difficult to put back into place and i can only assume that i haven't attached it properly. It was getting dark by the time i installed the boot light and i didn't have much light to work with. I'll have another look tomorrow.

I was looking for a video or picture tutorial on how to remove and replace the bulb holders properly on the boot lights but couldn't find anything.

By saying the boot lights do you mean the reversing lights and fog light?

Well, that's the question. Is it the inner boot lights which are only used for reverse lights and fog lights? I've seen some videos with them used as normal lights and others with them used as brake lights albeit they were primarily on cars in the U.S.

Alternatively, i could drag my lazy **** downstairs and check it out..........standby.

These are the eagle eyes on mine....

The lights on the actual boot are reversing lights, left and right and fog light, right side only, if they're not working i'd guess the lcm thinks theres a bulb out so throws a warning light on the dash.

I think this might be a case of me being stupid. Having looked at a few FaceTube videos before buying the lights I had assumed the lights on the boot were supposed to be brake lights. It looks as though I've been watching too much U.S TV because I've just turned on the rear fog light and it's working on the offside as it should. I couldn't check the reverse light with it being an automatic, the entertainment value would have been up there though if I'd tried as it catapulted itself through the brick wall.

I'll double check them all tomorrow when i install the near side tail light and then stick some before/after pictures up.

I need to find some of those grey plastic carpet studs from somewhere as well since I destroyed a few trying to get them out.

One thing i have noticed is how brighter the LED is compared to the original.

Thats what was throwing me ,i know my'n is a 4 door but same set up
I changed all 4 inners and outers in an hour the hardest being the nut nearest the back quarter ,but on the inners (that connect to the boot fogs and rev)you have to make sure the "2 tangs"clip over the boot lip
did you disconnect the inner boot part with boot light before fitting outer (rear veiw)??? i did'nt as the "inner with boot light " will slip through the hole fully connected to the outer with cables when old 1 is removed
have a look in my album dont know how to link it

    sent using motorola xoom
