So i finally got around to trying to fix my CD player today.
It has not worked since i got the car.
I took the head unit out and the glove box and found a nightmare
At some point a handsfree kit has been fit, and an alternative CD player
I removed all the wires i could and connected everything back up and crossed my fingers
The stereo and speakers are fine, but the cd player still has no power.
I think i'm right in saying its the small connector at the bottom (17 pin model)
    Any ideas
    Hopefully a simple one

Oh yes, changer, which plays CD's
I thougt about pics, but it would have just of been a standard 17pin connector and the white connector that slots underneath

What headunit is fitted, what CD changer is fitted? What did you do to the wiring? This is all terribly confusing.

It sounds like you are trying to use a BMW headunit with an aftermarket CD player that does not power up. Please go through it clearly because we can't help you if we don't understand.

Thanks for clearing that up I didn't realise a cd changer played cd's

Have you taken the cd changer out and checked for volts and the end of the loom where it plugs into the changer,

There is a fuse on the changer also, that might be worth checking

It's the standard BMW headunit and CD changer.
To ask the obvious about the fuse, is it with the fuses, and not near the CD changer?
I tried to get the the changer, but the trim didn't want to come out
Also the head unit does not say anything about a CD player when mode is pressed

That may help you getting at the cd changer, you can see in one of the pics the fuse on the base of the changer

Is the HU a business cd or tape? Also does the HU have two little screens on it?

The HU should cycle throug tunner - cd or tape - cd changer,

The HU is a tape deck, with 1 screen.
When mode is pressed it just goes from radio to cassette, does not mention CD player.
It looks hard to take the trim off

i think that HU is too old to work with the cd changer,

I think you need the cassette with the two screens,

The trim is easy to get out, remove the tray at the bottom, two expandable rivtis, remove the light, start at the top arround the boot lid, and pull the rubber seal back and the capret will pop out, once you started a bit you can move all the way arround and i tcomes out easy
