Hi Guys, I have just bought my first BMW and am pleased to be part of the BMW community at long last.

This is my first post so hello to everyone .

I have a fault on the parking sensors. I did some reading on the forum first so I wasn't duplicate posting.

I get the long beeeeeeep when I go into reverse and all the posts agreed that it was probably a PDC sensor fault and to listen for the ticking from each of the rear 4 sensors.

I did that and found the one above the exhaust was quiet, the rest all ticked away like bats

So I went on the old auction site and and ordered a new PDC advertised for a BMW that apparently is for an E46 (its a Valeo).

In the photos it is side on, so when it arrived the outward facing bit is slightly different. The one that arrived is a round face, the ones in my bumper have a sort of oblong face. The size however looks the same.

Not to be deterred, I simply unplugged the duff sensor from the car and plugged it into the new one and left it resting on the exhaust facing backward.

On testing the new sensor ticks away nicely along with all the others.

But still the long beeeeep and no sensing.

I am head scratching now... Here are the photos of the two parts

Any help appreciated! The wife won't drive it until they all work
