On the computer we're still getting no signal from the rear right sensor.
And a message of 'variant encoding' is showing.

We've just been advised to check the distance of the sensor to the ring,
so that's next at the minute....

I haven't got that to hand TBH.
I'm at work, posting on here, whilst my mate/mechanic is at his garage giving me updates...
As people shed light on the matter here - I'm reporting back to him to see if matters improve...

    Right...

It looks like it may have been a sensor after all....

We've taken the sensor from the rear left side and put in on the problematic side, and a reading is now coming up.

So another sensor is being put back on the rear left as we speak...

Flipping confusing - as we've already checked if sensors are faulty or not

    ...fecking fingers crossed.....

It looks like a wrong sensor was supplied to us in the first instance !?*$@!?

I'll keep updating this thread, and hopefully it'll help others in the future.

It appears the first Sensor we bought was the wrong one (blue in colour).
And the one BMW supplied (blue colour) is also wrong.

    The sensor should be grey...

    More updates to follow.

Ok Folks, that's a wrap!!! PROBLEM FINALLY SORTED!!!

It turned out we were supplied the wrong sensor, three times!
Twice from Europarts, and once from BMW!!!

The sensor that finally worked (fourth time lucky), was GREY in colour, and NOT BLUE.
GREY was originally on the car, but BLUE ones were supplied 3 times!!!!

So IF you come across having to replace a SPEED SENSOR make sure you REPLACE IT WITH A MATCHING COLOURED PLUG.
In my instance there was a GREY and a BLUE version that both fitted. The GREY one was the correct one.

I can't believe the warning lights on the dash have now gone, and I finally have Anti-slip, ABS, and cruise control for the first time in 2 years since owning the car....

    Happy Days.
