    hi

my rear drivers side brake light unit stopped worked. i took it out and examined it only to find the ground wire on the connector has burned out. For a quick fix i soldered on a wire to replace the burned out one. when i plugged it in i got a burning smell from the front of the car. i am guessing its the LCM it was comming from. Is there any way to check if i have actually caused damage to the LCM or that it just over heated a bit. I plugged the light unit out straight away and the lcm seams to be still working( still have no back lights though).

what could be a reason for the lights burning out the wire?

    thanks

The earth wire burning out is a common fault if you search on here, this bulletin tells you the correct repair for repairing the damaged wiring and adding an additional earth to the bulb holder.
