    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Hi All,

I have an issue with my e46 central locking and I wondered if anyone on here could give me a few pointers please.

I have noticed the last few weeks that I lock my car with the key then after some time it unlocks itself. I though perhaps it was a neighbours key interferring with mine at first, but now I am convinced the car is doing it by itself.

Also, I had a problem yesterday where the unlock on the key will not open the car - it will open the boot. In order to get into the car I now have to insert the key into the drivers door and unlock. This is a bit of a mare as due to the dead locks on the other doors, I can only get in the car from the drivers side. Actually, not such a bad thing as I can leave the mrs at home!

Having had a sniff about, it could be that the GM/ZKE module is the cause of the problem. I have tried using my other car key and I still get the same issue so its not the key. Also the battery is fully charged so it is not that either.

I would be grateful if any of you on the forum have any helpful advice on this issue. Much appreciated.

    With Thanks,

    JJW.

The locking system is now working fine again with the key fob. The only thing I did was test the central opening button by the handbrake which opened the doors. Looks like an intermittent issue.

I think that the source of the issue is the General Module having read some posts. More information can be found here....

I will probably be getting a new GM soon and fitting it.

I hope this helps anyone else who has/is experienced this issue with their e46.

If I am wide of the mark with this and ther may be some additional fault that any reader may know of, I would be very grateful if you could post a reply.

    Many Thanks
