Unfortunately, that is a generic OBD2 code reader. I have played around with these kind of scanners in the past and have had problems like this, whereas as a dedicated BMW reader would read the fault straight away.

Thanks for the help Neal, my problems go on though, the mil light is still out, now the car is cutting out when approaching junctions, can't wait to see what the specialist has to say.

    From BMW Specialist

Fuel trim has now settled down, its best to get them re-set after fitting cam sensor ? this is why the MIL light has now gone out after about a week.

Cutting out not sure on this one no fault codes stored, hopefully it will store a code after a few days.

DSC light, the reader is coming up with a steering angle senor fault, can anyone tell me if this needs to be set up on the car, or is it plug and play, getting conflicting posts on this subject.

Thanks again for the help Neal, you was correct about my fault code reader, i have just ordered myself a kit to read codes with my laptop, so hopfully this will read codes.

BMW SCANNER PA Soft 1.3.6 1.36 BMW Diagnostic Tool , anyone tried one of these kits

The steering angle sensor will need coding/calibrating to the car when fitted.
