I recently decided to buy a new set of rear light clusters, the ones with a clear indicator lenses. Although changing the cluster wasn't a problem I can't seem to find the correct amber bulbs for it.

I checked several sites and they all say it should be a 581 type (amber) with 120deg offset pins for all E39 cars. My current indicator bulbs are the 382, 180 degree pin type and I cannot see an amber alternative.

Any help would be appreciated as I’m sure I must be looking in the wrong place!

thanks for that link at least i know where i can get them from

i suppose the next question is, why is it 180° pins as opposed to the standard that it should be? every person i spoke to said it should the 120° pins. i know it's not critical it's just more out of curiosity, especially as none of the E39's should have this type of fitting.

    Thanks again

They can't be genuine bulb holders. Aftermarket ones unfortunately can be like this.
