Driving back from work in the rain today...
All of a sudden...the dash board lights dimmed out and started to flicker...all the lights in the heater and satnav have gone out too...however Screen is still working.

My first bimmer and only had it 2 weeks...

Any ideas where to start?...im stumped

Having read a lot of posts here, It seems the ignition switch is a common problem.

Maybe water got in somewhere and it may sort itself when it gets a bit drier.

Thats so crap...i wouldn't expect such a high quality car with such a poor design features...
I know the previous owner had the window screen replaced recently... i can hear sh&t loads of wind noise when driving over 40-50 mph...perhaps a poorly fitted window screen is the reason water is entering the cabin?...i defiantly can hear water flowing? when driving in he rain...
So what to do?...replace the ignition switch?...only to have the same problem again next time it rains?...or to get the window screen replaced again?...(hopfully insurance will cover it)... then see from results the next step...?..this car is turning out to be a headache...I`v still got the engine mount, steering control arms, and servicing to do yet!!...is this the joy of running a BMW?

Its true that poorly fitted windscreens can let water in and its not the first time I have heard of this now

All above are possibilities. Maybe a faulty dimmer switch

Spent some time checking all electrical connections and checking the window screen...i am confident the window screen is in properly...however did notice the passenger door rubber seal is worn between the hinges..also noticed rubber seal at the top is also worn not creating a total seal just behind the wing mirror...
    "to do list" is growing...
Still haven't found the reason why my dash lights are still out?..

Had to take the misses to her parents this evening...while there, decided to pop out and investigate the lighting issue further...While driving up...i noticed the lights were flickering to the beat of the engine...which can mean there is a earthing issue?....i then remembered i recently removed my BM24 radio module for closer inspection, i left the cables lose in the boot of the car r...i had a quick tidy up in the back and hey presto...The dash board lights are back on nice and bright again!!...what a relief!!

Just the warped front discs...Front wishbones...engine mount...brake lines...passanger door seals and BM24 radio module to fix...

    Thanks all for your input...

As with many electrical problems....always think of what you've done recently that may have caused it
