    Hi
    I have put a m44 engine from a 1997 18is into a 2000 compact.
I have no rev counter and the temp goes straight of the gauge.
When i take the engine loom connector apart the temp still goes of the gauge.
When i take the ews off its still the same.
I have the engine looms from both engines.
The only way to stop the temp gauge is to disconnect the main fuse wire
The compact has electric fan and the engine and loom i put in does not.
Compact ecu is ews3 and m44 is ews2 so had to do wiring to get it started.
The ecu on the M44 loom is one conector and the ecu on the origanal loom has 5 little blocks for the ecu.
No temp is a nightmare as i have just changed engine and like to keep eye on temp.
    Thanks H

I t will be how they are wired up where you have connected the looms, I seem to recall someone posting a similar problem up and a member told them how to fix it,
