after being out today i parked up for 1hr, left the side lights on, (ccfl's) but when i went to start the car she just did 3 quick clicks and no turn over off the engine, now i have never had any starting problems or even seen the battery light coming on, so what do you think. i ended up jump starting it and did a 3 mile journey home. turned car off and then went to start it again. no problem, it just fired straight back up. so what could it be? do ccfls drain the battery faster than standard side lights? would they drain this quick? or does it sound like the starter motor/solenoid?

Has happened to mine a few times when I've left the radio on whist working on the car without the engine running or when I disconnect the battery for long periods of time. Always fine again after a jump start.

Were the CCFL's on for the full hour ?
I always thought after 15mins the car went to 'sleep' and would turn that sort of thing off it's self... But that might not include the sidelights I suppose.

The only thing I can suggest has happened, is the CCFL's have drained the battery just enough for the EWS to disable the starter motor - As below a certain voltage, it won't allow you to use the starter - but not drained enough for it to be evident as such.
Your 3 mile journey home would have put just enough juice back into the battery to allow you to start it again when you pulled up, but you might have to go for a bit of a drive just to get the battery fully charged again.

i don't know how old the battery is, but the car has not suffered power shortage symtoms before. ccfl's were on for full hr, will ccfl's drain battery more than side light normally?
