Hi can anyone help before i possibly see a garage, my orange display on the instrument panel for some reason keeps dimming, this problem seems to happen with no head lights turned on, and when the main head light are switched on, and before you ask no im not touching the dial to adjust the brightness.... lol

also not sure if its related but if i leave my electrics on with the engine not running i seem to lose charge quite quickly and my battery is only 4 months old....

I had something similar on an E38. The voltage regulator in the alternator was faulty & it was putting out over 16v's charge!

Best get that checked out as it can boil the battery (which already sounds damaged from your post) & damage electronics. It is also a potential fire risk so not to be taken lightly!

The regulator was available separately from the rest of the alt.

Could also be a faulty Light Check Control Module (LCM).
