    Hi,

Dont know if anyone on here can help -

My e46 328i is having a crisis, resulting a stranded girlfriend. Car battery and power all seems fine, however, when you turn the key the driving lights come on and ignition just simply 'clicks' - as if the battery were dead (which i am 99% sure its not).

Then later, after playing wish a few dash buttons and the heating the car started fine.

However, now its back to the description above, where its dead. Also, i notice some funny noises coming from behind the dash, almost mechanical after trying to the start the car....

    Anyone got any ideas?

Otherwise, i guess the AA or my local specialists....

    Does sound like flat battery.

With dipped beam on when you turn the key and it clicks do they go really dim? If so usually battery.

If your battery has been off recently make sure the connections are good and not getting hot.

Beware making sparks near a dischatged battery there may be hydrogen around

safety first, if in doubt do not touch.

If you have a volt meter or on board computer you may be able to check the battery voltage.

right, have double checked, the battery is fine...

So, when i try to start the car, there is the dreaded click (as if the battery is dead), the driving lights come on, the computer on the centre console flash orange, the computer on the dash flashes orange, and the other usual start up warning lights flash....

    but, the engine wont start.....
