Hi Guys Introduced myself a couple of weeks ago and wondered if any one can throw some light on a couple of problems I have with my car.

1 when I pull the drivers side handle the window doesnt lower a few mill to allow the door to open smoothly, I ve tried the reprograming thing with the switch but no improvement,
2 the passanger seat heater doesnt seem to work, if I press the button the 2 green led's flash on and as soon as I let go of the button they go off again.

    Any help greatly appreciated

    Steve

So the window on your coupe is not dropping the required amount on opening and closing of the door?

Is it just the drivers side or both?

Have you checked that the door jamb switch is functioning correctly?

Its just the drivers side, where is the switch on the door jamb?
Then I can check it out, I have noticed it works fine if your in the car getting out, just not if your outside the car and want to get in

    Thanks

Regarding the seat problem, sounds like the heating element temp sensor in the seat base has gone tits up, if the control unit cant determine the temp of the heating element it wont turn it on for that seat. This comes as part of the heating mat and on some of these vehicles the element is part of the seat cover= expensive.

Is there any way to check the resistance of the elements to determin wether they are ok or not and if so what is an ok value and what is not?

Found this for the E46 pre September 1999. I've never done this myself but if it agrees with your setup, it may work.

    Fault monitoring
The electronic seat heating control system monitors the temperature sensor and heating mats for faults.

If a break or short occurs at the temperature sensor, the seat heating is switched off in order to prevent overheating. The two function LEDs come on only briefly.

    Flash code
A flash code shows what faults the electronic circuitry has currently detected.

Flash code output is started by following procedure:

Switch off ignition (ignition lock in position 0)

Press and hold the button for seat heating

Switch on ignition (terminal 15) with button depressed (ignition lock in position 2)

    Release button

    Briefly press button

Initially, the seat heating is activated after pressing the button. Both LEDs come on. The right LED goes out after 10 seconds have elapsed. The flash code is output by the left LED. No fault was found if the right LED does not flash.

The following faults can be indicated by the left LED.

    Flashing
    Defect

    Once
Switch faulty (potentiometer or electronics) or switch overheating due to a short-circuit

    Twice
Temperature sensor has break or short

    3 times
Heating mat has break or short-circuit (probably break or short-circuit in wiring harness)

The flash code can be repeated by briefly pressing the button twice.

Normal operation of the seat heating system can only be resumed after switching off the ignition.

It Turns out I have a temp sensor problem (2 flashes), does any one know if you can buy this seperatly or do you have to buy the complete heat mat, and is it in the base or back of the seat?
