You could try disconnecting the battery for a while or removing fuses 10, 34 and 43, checking and replacing .

right a quick update, after doing a bit of research threw my paper work i got with my car it as had a new heated front windscreen fitted 3 month's before i got the car, the bm garage as found out that this is the cause of my problem as somewhere the wire from the windscreen as some how rubed and caused the k-bus line to short out, cross my finger's this is it and i can get my car back, the bill so far from bm is £376+ vat.

as any body just had there windscreen replaced that is haveing the same problem?

E46 never came with a heated windscreen. Ford owned a patent on it. Only top non-BMW models have one when they pay the Royalty fee to Ford. I believe the 25 year patent has expired in the last few years. The only heated part of the E46 is a small heater inside the rain sensor/auto lights device to remove frost (which also has an iBus connection) behind the rear view mirror.

Ain't it just, well happy. Still got a wheel sensor playing up but will swap the new one over on the weekend as I think I replaced the wrong side
