The battery on my 323 (1999)drains flat if the car is left standing for several days. I remember reading somewhere that this is a pretty common fault related to the air con system. Anyone know the cure ?

Do you hear the little fan behind the heater control panel still whining when you switch everything off?

It could be one of many issues including damaged wiring that runs from the vehicle body into the boot or even just a battery that had a dodgy cell?

I,ve had same issue for months now and have narrowed it down to the blower staying on (low speed).

Have been advised to change the blower resistor or "hedgehog". I,m expecting it to arrive today so heres hoping )

BMW E46 HEATER BLOWER RESISTOR HEDGEHOG 64116920365 (lots on ebay for around £35

There are several good posts on here showing the location and how to change it.

Check to see if your blower fan keeps running long after you have switched off ignition.

    good luck!

I have heard the fan behind the dash ,running for a while after switching the ignition off ,but it does stop after a short time. However, even a day later I can hear a faint buzzing noise coming from behind the heater controls area. So something is definitely live.
