My hubby and I are both beamer owners, mine being an older M reg 316, his being a newer V reg 318. The problem is that he has experienced a few issues with his radiator and battery recently, with the bad weather over the last few weeks he has not been able to access his car at all. We have replaced the battery in the key to regain entry using the remote central locking system, this has failed, he has tried using his key in the driver door and the lock seems to have slipped somehow and it seems extremley lose when turning the key. He has tried to gain access through the boot but it is a solid back end (we do not have the arm rest in the middle of the back seat). The only door with a lock is the driver's. We are running out of ideas here, we have checked with a local dealer and garage and they have no idea - please please please can someone help us.

If you can get into the boot surely you can replace the battery or jump the battery in the car?

Hopefully you have not desynced the remote central locking by replacing the battery on the key otherwise you might have to call out the rac/aa

We have access to the boot and the battery, if I were to attach the leads to batteries, do you think it would give it enough boost to enable to key to work on the door?

Why would it de-sync? Key parameters stored in the car's ROM memory.

On my 323i I had to go through that re syncing procedure with mine when the battery went on the key.
