My Cigarette lighter socket has become a rusty mess inside! I only use it for Acessories as i dont smoke! Is it a easy job to replace the socket?

Whats the best way to gain access? Any help please!

Ive had a nose for part number on Real OEM,but cant even find any mention of lighter!!

Should be the same layout!I got a new socket from my main dealer only£2.50.
Remove fuse 47,maybe different number on yours check fuse box diagram,as my car has a perminant live! Newer cars work off the ignition.

First move gear lever in to 2nd,then yank gear knob sharply upwards to remove gear knob! Mines manual, not sure on auto

Then lift the rear edge gently of the gear gaiter and remove it!

You will see two screws to the rear of the gear surround, remove these!
The gear surround should then just lift off! After unclipping the electric window switch cables.

This will reveal 2 more screws at the bottom of the Ash tray section! remove these!

Then open the sun glasses compartment above the ash tray, put your hand inside and press up on the roof of the compartment,at the same time using other hand to gently slide up behind via the main opening. The sunglasses compartment inner section should then slide out from the front.

This will reveal 2 more screws tucked up above compartment,i used a torch for better vision.Remove these!

Then the whole ash tray/sunglasses unit (which is one piece) will lift forwards.

I un clipped the ASC wiring and the cigarette lighter wiring to enable me to turn the unit around revealing the back!

The lighter socket twists to unlock it from unit, then it slides out via the front of the facia!

The new one has to be lined up with the ridge on socket lined with cutaway on unit, then twist to lock in place!

Just put it all back together in reverse of the above!
