Hi, not long joined and already asking questions.

I was just wondering why my CD changer wouldn't play any CDs, although the changer can be heard to be working and the discs seem to show on the Head Unit display.

The previous owner has 'fitted' an MP3 3.5mm connector that pokes out from under the centre console, so I lifted up part of the centre console to find a couple of cut wires, not even taped up.

I'm thinking that he must have bypassed the CD changer and put this MP3 wire in it's place, but without getting to the back of the head unit I don't know.

I do not have a manual at the moment, so to save me taking the whole interior apart, is there an easy way to get the head unit out? It a business model if that means anything.

Are there any tricks involved in getting the complete centre console out too, as I suspect it will have to in order to trace the wires?

    cheers

the HU is easy to remove and so is the glove box thats all you will need to remove to get to what you need to:

    to remove the HU:

the trim that runs along the dash above the HU needs to be removes, it is pinned.

Start on the passenger side next to the door, use a screw driver or trim tool (dont scratch the trim) to gentally leaver the first pin out:

now you have one out, you can use your hands to move along the trim piece removeing the pins

once its all out there are two philps screws above the HU remove them it puls towards you and out,

to get the glove box out:

there are 6 phlips screws that need to be removed:

the glove box pulls up and out, put it on the floor

Now you should be able to see how he has connected his aftermarket mp3 cable in, hopefully its not too much of a bodge and you can re-solder and heat shrink the cables back together, this pin out may help you too:

thats the trouble with alot of the audio stuff, you forget to check and espically when its behind the dash you dont get to see,

i got mine home and didnt even think about the cd-c until a few weeks later, thought about loading it up... no magazine

which was a bit of a pain, they are only cheap on ebay, never got round to it in the end ive now got the dice hooked up for the ipod

That's what's so annoying, I checked the changer was there and the magazine, didn't think to put a CD in to see if it played.
