Hi, i have a problem with my front passenger door. It is permanantly locked, neither the remote nor the central locking switch by the gearstick unlocks it. Also the passenger window & mirror switches on the drivers door doesn't work but the window switch on the passenger door works the window.
    All other doors works fine.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
    Thanks.

You might want to check the loom wiring between the door and body inside the rubber tubing. May have frayed or broken wires by the sounds of your description.

Do you think i should check the loom on the drivers door as i can't open the passenger door to check the loom there?

You can do. Check all the loom wiring in the tubing for all doors including the tailgate

I have checked all wiring looms and can't see any problems.

    Hi mate
    I had a similar problem on a 1999 E38 7 seies a while back.
It turned out to be the door control module which is located inside the door at the front.
Unfortunately I had to wreck the door trim panel to get to the central locking solenoid to be able to spike it so that it would unlock - luckily for me I had a spare door trim panel to replace the damaged one.
The problem with not being able to operate the miirror and window from the driver's door may be with the door/window control unit in the driver's door. This the panel that is fitted in door armrest. I have a feeling these units are probably the same as used on the 7 series.

    Hope this is of help.

    Regards

    Paul

    Hi Paul,
Cheers for your reply, i have already tried a replacement drivers door window control unit as this was the easiest option but the symptoms were the same. I have done a bit of research on the door module in the passenger door and i think this controls the passenger door lock, window & mirror so i tend to agree with you that this is the culprit. Why on earth BMW put these modules in the doors is beyond me!!!
