This is a general question relating to parking sensors on any E39s or E38s.
If the system completely stops working i.e. no sounds, no light on the pdc button (and nothing has been removed and the fuse hasn't been removed), could this be caused by just 1 or more faulty sensors?

Also, I've come across a lot of stuff on the internet about BMW PDC failures and the systems not being durable enough and all too often being susceptive to environmental conditions, any thoughts on why this is. Thanks.

A common factor is water build up in the sensor and in this weather ICE is a problem which can and will affect the sensors

Have you tried another fuse just to rule that out in case?
