    hi guys,
    usual smg failure.
    bought s hand pump but wish to test the motor runs even for a second before i fit it. also does the car need to go to stealers or can specialist garage re-charge thanks.

    As long as you don't run the motor for any length of time dry then you should be fine performing a manual test on it, but I've never had any dealings with one yet so wouldn't know about how the wires are set out or how easy it is to perform.

    May be worth using a fused piece of wire though if you don't have a power probe.

    A mate of mine in Chester had an SMG fail. The pump was tested to death on the diagnostics and sure it is fine as they ran all the solenoids and everything, He also bought ECUs and some other stuff to test by substitution that he has spare.......

    I could have a word and see if he wants me to pass you his number?
