My October '99 328i Vert has got an EWS III alarm immobiliser system in it...As part of my 18 button OBC retrofit I need to connect the CODE signal from the 18 Button OBC (White Connector Pin 1) to the EWS III system, but have no idea which pin in the EWS III Module I connect the CODE signal to.

The BMW circuit schematics and the Bentley manual all show the OBC CODE Signal is connected to Pin 15 of the EWS II via a Black/Green wire – so are the EWS II and EWS III connector pin assignments the same.......or does the CODE wire actually go somewhere else….

    Advice/Info appreciated

I think you are getting confused between the EWS Immobiliser system and the 3G EWS alarm system. My guide explains it all...

    http://www.bimmerforums.co.uk/forum/...3g-ews-t39173/

Unless you are going to use the CODE function on the OBC (more trouble than it is worth and easy to get around) then you simply don't add or connect the wire.

Thanks Billywhizz1984 - I think you are right.....

The Module behind the glovebox I have been looking at is

Which I am assuming is the Alarm control unit......and not the EWS Imobiliser

Yes it is, as shown in the guide. I've retrofitted a few OBCs and I don't bother with the CODE function. It became obsolete after 1996 when cars had the EWS II immobiliser anyway.

Agreed - I am not going to bother with the Lock Function.....I never used it in any of my old E36's back in the late 90's.....

Was just putting the wire back in for completness really....

Considering the title of this thread, I hope people don't mind if I bump to ask this:

    The CODE function wiring...
It's the green/black wire coming from pin 1 of white plug of the 18 button OBC. Can someone confirm which pin/wire colour it's supposed to splice into on the small black plug at the rear of the ZKE module?

    Thanks

The code wire doesnt go into the ZKE, it goes into the EWS module which is the single box with yellow multiplug.
The wire isnt present in the multiplug so you will need to find a spare bullet connector from another loom to connect it, will become pin 15.

But if the car doesn't have EWS I thought it went to somewhere on the ZKE module?

What is the build date of your car?
If you are running EWS I then there will be a relay that controls it somewhere, there is also a wire labelled anti-theft that DOES come out the back of the ZKE module (black plug), again its pin 15, black/green.
