    Hi folks,

I have a 99' e36 318is and I'm having problems with my heater/AC, the automatic daul AC controler unit under the stereo was playing up which i belive is a very common problem on the E36 models. I have now replaced this with a second hand unit off ebay, but the problem is all the buttons and controls seem to be working fine i.e i can turn the temp up and down and all the lights go on and off as they should. But guess what there is no bloody air blowing out of any of the vents GGGGRRRRRRRRRR !!!! so i checked the blower fuses and relay all ok so i'm a bit stumped now
Any help or advise with this problem would be greatly recieved thanks

When you say no air, is there a really faint flow but the motor is rushing round like mad?(pollen filter blocked) or no motor madness? (final stage resistor or poor connection at the resistor plug or motor)

I've had similar twice. First time I replaced the FSR and it fixed it. Second time it was the motor.

To diagnose the blower fault I swapped over the FSR as a matter of course as I've had to do it to about 4 E36s so far. That didn't do it so I removed the cover above the blower, cleaned out all the leaves, squirted in some WD40 and then hit it a few times until it sprung into life. It worked for a few months until the middle of the snow in December! Replacing it was a horrible long cold day but it should be easier to get to on the M44.

When you say it was "playing up", what was actually wrong with the original dual-zone climate control unit? If it was turning itself on and off at random times then its a cheap fix for under £40.

    Hi All

I have just bought my wife a 2002 318i se. All was working until yesterday, when she came home and said the fan was not working!

I have checked the fuses in the glovebox but all seem fine. The display works fine and you can even adjust the fan speed, just no fan at all.

    Any suggestions would be appriciated.

Check the plug on the fan motor and on the Final Stage resistor, members have noted that they get a bad connection on these before.

I had a similar experience, although mine was a silly fix, i hit a huge pot hole and with a lowered car thats never a nice experience... and my heating stopped blowing, strange yes, i checked everything, to come across the plug on the heater blower being VERY loose, litterally now being able to move it 1mm it would turn off, i whacked a cable tie round the plug to a piece of metal keeping the tention where it needed to be, and all sorted, that was 6months ago and never had anymore trouble... Just saying maybe it could be something simple before you start spending money.
