    Hi folks.
Just wondering if anyone can help me on this 1 please.
Im looking to change the lockset on my 1999 318 saloon from a lockset from a 1996 316 compact.
    Is this possbile for starters?
Theres 3 reasons for wanting to do this.
1st off is the compact has a 3 button key for remote keyless entry.
2nd is the barrel appears to be worn on the saloon as it sometimes just spins round and doesnt turn the ignition switch.
3rd is that the saloon has about 3 different keys and the compact is a 1 key car.
I realise both cars have coded keys so is there a code box or does it go off the ecu?
I have both full cars to swap parts from the compact onto the saloon so im hoping that will be an advantage.
The remote keyless entry feature works properly on the compact so im hoping this will work on the saloon if I know what control units to swap etc.
Thanks in advance for any help.

The ECU, EWS module EWS transmitter, Transponder ring and a small chip in the key make up the EWS system.

When doing engine conversions the items that need swapping are the ECU, EWS Module and the chip from the key
