    Hi there.

I have a 1999 528i SE saloon that has recently developed a problem whereby the electrics cut off completely. It can happen when driving or when it's been parked. All the lights and power etc suddenly switch off when driving and then come back approx 10-15 seconds later.

I've come out to it parked and found that I have to manually unlock the doors but no interior lights and key in ignition does nothing.

Then bizarrely it comes back on again and runs perfectly well.

I can't find any answers here at the momentso I thought I'd ask in a new post if anyone has any ideas

Any help will be much appreciated.

    Thanks

Check the basic things first ie battery connections,

Are they tight and are they free of any corrosion on terminals.

Are all the main earths and power connections clean and tight.

Has the battery been tested. Most auto centres will do this free of charge.

All these can be done without any financial outlay.
