    Hi

    problem just started happening

when i unlock with the remote all the windows will open, this normally happens on two presses of the remote.
Only thing that might have caused it would be the fact my battery went flat after standing for a while i took it off and charged it up then after connected it this has been happening since, i might add the windows were down when i put the recharged battery back on and think that the electronic system was maybe out of synce i since decided it might be a good idea to close all windows and take of the battery for a while then connect it to see if things changed to no avail,
is there a sequence for this or does something need replacing?

Is it a late E36, or an early E46 ? Does the one touch close still work ? If not, you will have to reset the windows. For an E46, with the ignition on, close the window with the button, and hold the button up for another 30 seconds.

Yes it is with all four. To close one window from the button inside the car, just briefly lift its button and the window will close. That is called "one touch". If you pull up the button and hold it for a second or more, the window will stop where you release the button. To close all the windows on the keys remote locking, you have to press and hold until they are shut, that is not called "one touch"
Sorry, I dont know about the open-on-unlock problem, but it could be that the GM5 (someone correct if I have got the wrong module) did get confused when the battery was re-connected, so it could be corrected if you get it re-coded. Go to an indi (better price) not a main stealer (EXPENSIVE). I had the same happen, but it was the sunroof that opened. After a couple of weeks, it realised I did not want it open, and stopped doing it!!

must admit this started happening after the battery went flat to a point where it just managed to unlock the doors then after a recharge this problem started happening, guess its looking like an auto electrician for the job
