The reason I ask is that I think that if the wipers are set to 'normal' they will revert to intermittant when the car is stationary, hence the 2 intermittant settings.
    Lol. it is stationary yes!

Can't drive it due to no mot or insurance lol

The car has been sitting a while, took fuse out for wipers to stop them keep coming on. Just put fuse back, plugged batt in and they didn't come on.

Turned on the ignition, pushed wipers up, came on. I get: 1 up Inter. 2 Inter. 3 Fastest. push down get one swipe. first time I pressed down got loads of swipes. pull and get washer and about 3-5 wipe. they are actually turning off now too! weird lol.
So is this what is happening now. It sounds OK actually. You would have to try it with the car moving to test it properly as the wiper module needs a speed signal from the speedo before the wipers can run in normal speed.

Wipers are turning off, and I get 1 up: Inter, 2: Inter, 3: Fastest and 1 down: 1 Swipe

    That sounds OK
When you can drive the car the wipers should run in normal mode in pos 2 when in motion, if all is well

Sounds like cleaning the switch may have helped
