    Hello preeps,

Yes, back for more help! sorry! lol

I have got a issue with my wipers on my E36 coupe, Nov. 1998. 318iS (if that makes any difference)

If I turn the wipers on, they work, turn them off and they stay on, Put it to off Position and they slow, put it to full they do speed up, so have some sort of control.

Sometimes come on when connect battery.

I have read up on a few posts, most people are saying Wiper Module?

This is where my problem is now, took glove box out, heard it should be behind Blue connector, take it out, and it says EWS II this being the alarm?

So am I looking in totally the wrong place on this car or has it been moved for the alarm? confused! lol

    Thanks

    Mike

It does sound like the wiper module. Im pretty sure it is behind the glovebox on the later ones. It may be tucked out of the way though

    Thanks for your help, Steve!

Does anybody know if one from a different year would fit? do the codes have to match up?

There is an E36 at a friends breakers can go get one out of to try but don't want to cause anymore damage lol.

No worries mate. Glad you found it.
There is a difference i think yours should be the same as 1994 onwards because the early ones were under the steering column area.

You're probably right to look at the module. Check fuses 3, 36 and 37 just in case.

Am I right in saying that the wipers are ok until you switch them on. After that, if you switch them to off they keep running but slowly. Is this like the slow speed or even slower?
Do the other functions work ok, like intermittant, single wipe etc?

Just wondering if it could be a faulty wiper switch

I had taken the steering colum covers off as I thought it might be switch also, cleaned it out with electrical cleaner but still nothing.

The car has been sitting a while, took fuse out for wipers to stop them keep coming on. Just put fuse back, plugged batt in and they didn't come on.

Turned on the ignition, pushed wipers up, came on. I get: 1 up Inter. 2 Inter. 3 Fastest. push down get one swipe. first time I pressed down got loads of swipes. pull and get washer and about 3-5 wipe. they are actually turning off now too! weird lol.
