    Hello all.

Im new to this site and this is my 1st time writing, but hopefully all you seasoned pros can help me out with my issue...?

I've owned my 1998 E36 318is for 5 years now and she has been the best car ever!!! Beautiful condition and i think she has a nice spec also. However i now have my 1st little problem with her and need your vast knowledge please.

I have a 3G (MK2) remote alarm which also operates the central locking system. Until now it has been faultless, but i now find that the drivers door will not lock or unlock (if locked by hand) when the remote buttons are pressed. The passenger door is fine as is the boot and the fuel lid? The central locking also behaves the same way when i use the key (passenger door, boot and fuel lid all ok), but not the drivers door? If im inside the car and i manually push the drivers door lock closed all works ok and when i open the drivers door from the inside (when all is locked) everything opens ok. It seems to be only the alarm and the key that have issues with the drivers door. I've attached a photo of the remote key fob if this helps at all?

Any ideas? and i hope i've made some sense...

Thanks in advance for your time.

Sounds like the solenoid / actuator has failed. There are a few guides on how to replace it around the net....

Thanks for the reply. I'll replace the actuator and see if that fixes it?
